Individuals make our community. That seems pretty obvious, right? Individuals make up every community. You see though, our community works incredibly well despite the fact we have so many incredible individuals.
As we spent time celebrating this weekend, I was amazed to think about all the different individuals that comprise our community. We have moms, dads, college students, high school students, middle aged people, 20 somethings, 30 somethings and more. I think you would be hard pressed to find a community as diverse as ours that functions in such close quarters. We lack one thing in our community though. Individuals who are self seeking.
Individuals in our community forsake their individualism at necessary times for the good of the community. No Benedict Arnolds here. It’s not because there isn’t a temptation for self seeking behavior. There’s a realization that in the long run serving the community is actually the way to make life better not serving yourself. This selflessness changes everything.
Day 7 of 31: Why do I love my community? Individuals.
