Ken Burns

Ken Burns is the definition of a storyteller. His deep interest in history and the characters that lived through it have made him one of the foremost non-fiction filmmakers today. Here is an interview with Ken as he discusses why he makes films and the importance of telling the stories he tells.

  1. This reminds me of a presentation Ira Glass gave in Wyoming last fall. As a storyteller – one with lots of talent – Ira really emphasized just how important and impactful stories are for communicating across groups, within groups, and over the course of time in general. Not only was it a great presentation with a lot of great messages, he used some kind of mixing app on his Ipad and created a two hour long “This American Life” type presentation live on stage. If you ever get the chance to see Ira speak, I’d jump on it.
